There are temperature adjustable irons and steam irons which can also let out steam. Those with Wattage of around 1000W is easy to handle. Choose those with moderate weight for easier handling. Steam irons are also used for preshrinking. Be sure to drain water after each use. In addition, there is also a compact "trowel type" iron convenient for Japanese dressmaking in which ironing is frequently used for tailoring layered Kimonos. |

Irons are used for repairing the distortion of cloth, eliminating the sewing wrinkles, applying the kise, and for the finishing work. Press strongly to the cloth, but try to slide it lightly when shifting to avoid stretching the cloth. |
