Rulers are used for measuring and marking the fabric. They come in bamboos, metals and plastic, but bamboo rulers that are easier to handle are mainly used for Japanese dressmaking to avoid damaging the cloth. Choose a bamboo ruler that is straight, less knotty, thin and without warpage. 50 cm to 100 cm long rulers are easiest to use. There are also 10 cm, 20 cm, 30 cm, and 40 cm rulers. |
