There are sewing, thread clipping, and pinking scissors, or shears.
- Sewing scissors (shears)
Sewing scissors, or shears, are for cutting cloth. Choose one that is sharp to the tip of the scissors and can cut through to the very end of the cut. Those that are 25-27 cm in full length are easy to use.
- Thread clipping scissors
Thread clipping scissors are used for fine work such as thread nipping and unpicking seams.
Choose those that are about 13 cm long, with good blade engagement and tips that are somewhat rounded.
