There are hand sewing threads and basting threads made of cotton, silk, etc..

Cotton thread No. 30 is used for hand-stitching the yukata.
Choose a color closest to the color of the fabric so that the stitches are discreet as possible.
If it is difficult to find an exact color, choose a thread of darker color for the darker fabrics, and a lighter color for the lighter colored fabrics.
There are "shiromo" and "gassed yarn" for basting.
"Shiromo" is an unbleached cotton thread while "gassed yarn" is bleached and is thinner than "shiromo".
Basting thread is used for marking and for holding the material in place.
