01.Stitching the sleeves



 French seam*1 is used for the bottom of the sleeve to hide the raw edges. Fold the seam allowance of wrist opening towards the wrong side of the cloth.
①Fold the sleeve wrong sides together and mark with marking pins.
②Sew along the line 0.3cm inside the raw edge.
③Fold along the line with 0.2cm kise*4 allowance, then turn over the sleeve inside out.

French seam*1This is a method to stitch the raw edge into a bag form. With the wrong sides together*2, stitch the cloth together along 3 mm from the raw edge. Turn it over inside out, arrange it in "kenuki-awase"*3, and then stitch along the marking.

Wrong sides together*2Two cloths are placed together with the right sides facing out when it is 'wrong sides together.

Kenuki-awase*3In this method of finishing the edge of the fabric, the kise are evenly aligned at the folded ends of the two cloths just like at the tip of the tweezers (Kenuki).

Kise*4Kise is a tiny buffer zone left around the seam when the seam is turned opened. Stitch line is hidden by not opening the seams right at the stitching line. It is called making kise: "Kise wo kakeru".

 ①Fold the sleeve right sides together* and mark with marking pins on the seam line.
Start sewing the line from the edge of the sleeve, on to the free edge at the bottom and then to the curve until the end of the wrist opening.
②Scoop a small stitch and sew back 2cm.

Right sides together*Two cloths are placed together with the right sides facing inside when it is 'right sides together'.
